IN THE MORNING:Habits for EATS

HELLO!!! Today (when I am writing this) has been a long day but I wanted to write so here I am

I’ve been thinking about various things about healthy eating and body positivity and thought why not do a post about it so again here I am

I’ll share five healthy habits to always do that can get you dropping some pounds or can make you feel better.

And I am going to give you guys and gals very easy to do healthy habits because I know that some of us including me are very lazy and tend to steer away from anything that’ll take us more then 5 minutes.

Seriously these are extremely habits!

guys although I wish I was a doctor I am not and all these opinions are my own and my own experiences so they might not work for you as they worked for me 

Anyways five tips to a healthier you:

  1. Drink water! The easiest thing is to drink water with all your meal and drink a glass when you wake up. If your out and see these nice juices and sodas PUT IT DOWN! Water always in most restaurants its free and it’ll save you money !
  2. Substitute soda and juice with seltzer water or with tea. Now if your addicted to juice and soda (lets be honest with ourselves) you can do this slowly so say every Monday you’ll only drink water and tea instead of juice. And then as you progress you can make it two days, three days etc..
  3. Eat popcorn as a snack and up to one or two servings. Now I am not talking about that buttery popcorn you get at the movies or in the packs I mean popcorn like skinny pop(in love) or homemade if you have the energy.
  4. Get your serving of fruit in the morning. Yes cut an apple or grab some grapes and chow down. You have 1 to 2 servings of fruit already there.
  5. Make a smoothie and sneak in some veggies. Put a dash of carrot, spinach or kale in their and you’ll be set. An app that I really am loving lately is Daily Blends but they also have a website called Simplegreensmoothie. You can literally get any smoothie that your thinking of and if your running low on fruits and veggies they have a list you click through the stuff you have and it tells you what smoothies you can do YAY! (no I am not sponsored this app is just life)

Side Note: Curly Hair Troubles

So this is a random post hence the side note

And today since I have some time off I just wanted to talk about my curly hair

Recently I’ve been using my regular hair products that I adore but I felt like I needed something new

I am thinking about trying some other products out in order to see what works best for me since the weather is changing

My sister has been using the Briogeo hair products and she loves them

I have sneaked in some of her products as well and I adore them and am thinking of purchasing a couple of products from their avocado line

I’ve also heard the ApHogee and Ovation products are really good so I might try those as well

I usually wear my hair out or in a bun or braids so I always need frizz control products

I also want to buy a treatment for hair growth but I’m unsure which to buy.. any suggestions? I was thinking of getting some curly hair extensions (we will see) because sometimes I just want my hair to have some length

My hair is very prune to frizz which is why I constantly change up my products

IN THE AFTERNOON: THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF COLLEGE

So this is a more serious topic and will probably be one of the more serious ones in my college edition

But I do feel like I need to talk about this topic because although college is great and experience so much in that time; some of these experiences are not always positive

And I feel like people don’t like talking about these experiences

And I want people that have had these experience maybe while they were in college or they had it at work or anywhere knows that they can ask for help and that its okay to not know what to do

I personally went through a lot of negative things in college that all shaped me as a person. I first lost friends that I thought I would have for a lifetime and thought maybe I did something wrong. But, ultimately I figured out this is just how life works.

Loss of sleep was such a big thing because it really can mess with your body and also not sleeping at around the same time everyday. I, like many college students, do not sleep my full 8 hours and also do not sleep at the same time everyday. This made me even more tired, gave me more headaches and just made me unhealthier.

Combined with loss of sleep I gained weight and it was more like freshman 50. And although gaining weight wasn’t the biggest issue, what was the biggest issue was that I was not eating right. Most of the time I would find myself ordering out and eating junk food. This lead me to what I self diagnosed as gastritis and let me tell you it is not fun. Vomiting and feeling nauseous with belly pain is the WORST. To the point that it makes you not want to eat because your scared you will vomit what you just ate or won’t be able to sleep.

Some people lose weight because they forget to eat and that can be scary too.

I had minor anxiety and depression while in college. Although it wasn’t severe it was still there and it was kind of scary sometimes because it can take over your life. Sometimes I didn’t want to get out of bed and not cause I needed more hours of sleep(because I do) but because I just felt like why should I. And I know other college students such as myself who deal with these same issues.

Now last but not least college can get you addicted to drug or alcohol. I personally decided to stay away from these thing for the better of my health but I know others that use it. And it all depends why you do it and how much you consume… but most times its because your out and about in a party or you need an extra boost to get you to pull your all nighter. I’ve heard people taking adderall to make them focus and I’ve also heard of people drinking because they’re depressed.

Now I just want to say that there are always resource on college campus to help you out with any of these issues SO pleasee reach out if you need it. There are health centers, hotlines or even asking a friend for help.

ALSO I want to say the college experience is not always bad!! Its not and you will meet so many people that’ll make it better. I’ll also write a post of the positives of college. College is just an experience of life and its a roller coaster but its worth it.

IN THE MORNING: Home is where the Heart is 

A little back story so I was watching this documentary called the minimalist(its on Netflix btw) and it really did open my eyes and give me a change in perspective

They essentially talk about how we usually collect all this stuff most of which we don’t use or has no value to us and how we can de-clutter our lives and have happier ones as a result

I immediately went through my clothes and took out items I knew I wouldn’t wear and decided to donate them instead

But I did minimal things here and there because I do believe you can still have decor in your house that means something to you

Five item essentials to make your home and you(obviously) a little brighter and better:

  1. This Himalayan rock salt lamp is a must have for your room or living room. When my mom first bought this I was a bit skeptical but when its turned on and you touch it, you immediately become calm. It can clean the air around you and can be used when doing some meditation. Its not too bulky so it won’t take a lot of space in your house. Also its 16 bucks which is a steal (compared to reg price)!!Screen Shot 2017-07-31 at 8.57.09 AM.png
  2. On the subject of Himalayan salt, there is also a cutting board which seems pretty cool and can also give a lot of flavor to your food! If your a foodie and love to cook this is definitely something to try out in a house or over the grill. I suggest getting the tray as well since the himalayan salt can get dirty.   3. Blankets are probably one of my favorite things in the whole world and because of this I keep a few in the living room for myself and guest. I like really soft cozy ones but that can be affordable. Target is a great place to get your monies worth without putting a hole in your pocket.

  4. Candles!! They smell so good and can give you a relaxing vibe (if your in the mood). They also can give your room a cute look without being overwhelming. I personally love candles in my room. Just remember to turn them off. I usually prefer candles in jars.

5. Last but not least some plants or flowers are great to give your place a cute look without spending a bunch of dollarrss. Remembering to water a plant is sometimes a hard job but seeing it grow is actually really rewarding. You can get flowers and plant seeds at your local store. Down below I’ll show some of my favorite flowers/plants.

IN THE TEMPRANO: New Beginnings 

I truly believe that everything happens for a reason and that most times we can’t control what happens to us 

BUT we can control how we react to these things 

NOW I wanted to make this short but very informative because let’s be honest sometimes reading long article,blogs journals etc.. is a lot so bare with me 

This summer has taught me a lot about myself and although it’s not completely over yet I thought reflecting midway would be a good idea 

Now I’m not perfect and I make mistakes all the time but I always try to improve myself and make myself to be the best version of me 

And yes that sounds corny but it’s true and it’s also necessary 

I am trying to get back to the basics the parts that I really liked about myself that I’ve lost but I’m also evolving myself and reaching out when I can 

So I say all of this to let you guys know that it’s okay to feel down and to have off days 

It’s okay if you need outlets and extra help (having a therapist doesn’t mean your insane) and I think it’s great to ponder and reflect on the things you need to improve in yourself

You can become new everyday. You can have a new beginning 

All you have to do is try to be the best you that you can be 

Now I challenge you to try something new tomorrow it could be anything and it could be small but just try it

IN THE LATE LATE NIGHT: Darkest before the Dawn 

So my health has been pretty much Crap and I’ve been feeling pretty low most days but It’s fine cause I’ll get better

It is true what they say that you might have some pretty bad days but there would always be some good the key is to be optimistic, to understand the situation your in now, own it and figure out how to either fix it or work around it

And trust me when I say this is probably a big low for me this summer because everytime I think I’m getting better with my health something else happens

BUTTTTT a lot of good has come out of this and I’ll tell you some

First I realized that I need to eat better and have a healthier lifestyle if I want to enjoy my time here and I just need to be more aware of what I’m putting into my body

I realized that’s getting sick really sucks and not knowing what’s going on with you sucks even more

I realized that I need other outlets that can help me balance and keep me sane and one of those things is Headspace (App) it’s basically a meditation app and the guy that talks for the meditation; his voice is so soothing and after a session I promise you’ll feel zen

I also pray, I know for some that isn’t an option but an alternative could be mediation similar to meditation, prayer keeps me happy and optimistic while also giving me some peace

I also read because it calms me down while also teaching me something right now I read medical journals because they just interest me

I also realize that people really do work at their own pace and that right now my body is saying to take care of myself

I am more aware of myself and my surroundings and am taking the steps to better myself and I hope that this could inspire or comfort someone that is going through a similar situation

IN THE MORNING: HELP

Theres nothing wrong with asking someone for help

And I know its hard for some people because being prideful is a really hard thing to deal with

And having to ask for help could seem more like a job then actually something that could help you in the future

BUT we all need help sometimes no matter how independent we might think we are

And it could be for the smallest thing or for a life changing thing but you need help

So ask for help!

You might not like the answers and you might not even like what people have to tell you or when they also include their opinion along with their answer

But thats a step you took and eventually if you keep asking question and figure out whats the right question to ask then you’ll get the answer you want

And nothing feels better then getting the right answer

or better an answer and an action

SO I’m here to tell  you that SUCK IN YOUR PRIDE and just ask the question

and if you don’t get the answer you want then ask a better question or ask someone else because eventually you’ll get the answer

AND don’t give up just don’t….don’t do it….. I’m telling you not to

Because eventually you’ll look back and think maybe I should of done more or maybe I should have asked that question

AND last thought (promise)

If the answers are taking a little longer then usually to get to you BE PATIENT I understand I’m very impatient myself but a desperate person looking for an answer is not the best thing

So relax, ask questions and wait to see what comes along

IN THE EARLY MORNING: Comfyy Clothes

Now no one can tell me they don’t have their favorite pair of jeans or shirt and some sweats

I know comfy clothes might not be for everyone because lets be honest some people like dressing nice everyday and that completely fine

But if your like me and you look at assembling an outfit as a chore then you would probably look at your stack of clothes(cause who folds them or puts them in hangers anymore) and pick any random thing that looks decent and be on your way

And I am saying this because lets give awareness to comfy clothes and maybe even a THANK YOU (yay) because those days you stay home all day or you have to run to the store or go to that 8:00am class thank your comfy clothes for being there for you

And because they are super comfortable and usually affordable and no matter how many stains or holes they have you’ll probably never get rid of them

Lets not forget all those times that you needed something for a long day or for a lazy day and your comfy clothes were there

For those that don’t have comfy clothes though but want to have some because my post inspired you (YAY) or not here are some tips/ideas on what clothes to get

SO your in the store and you don’t know what clothes to buy and your thinking really hard about this you might want to look at some the sweats/pj shorts sections you can always find some nice sweats and comfy clothes there

Buy a size bigger if you like the extra space/baggy feels (I personally prefer this option)

Oversized anything is awesome

Look for long sleeve shirts if its cold or flowy shirts if its hot

And last but not least make sure your comfortable in it!

IN THE MORNING : PACING 

There is nothing wrong with working at your own pace or having your own pace 
And I completely understand that sometimes working at your own pace is not an option when there are other factors involved
BUTTTTTTTTT  I am here to tell you and you and youuuuu that working at your own pace is completely FINE 
I know it can be a little discouraging when everyone else is getting a house or a car or is settled down and your still living with a roommate or still have that horrible job 
But all of this is temporary all of this will end eventually 
If you think back in time, you weren’t taking L’s(loses) forever….eventually something good came along 
And sometime gals and guys we will have to take those L’s because it’s life and there’s not much we can do about it
But even when you getting back on your feet from all those L’s you can start to work at a better you and I’m not here promoting you to sit on the couch all day and think about it and eat those nachos (I mean eat your nachos) 
BUTTTTTTTT(how many times am I going to say but) if you need some time to chill and relax and collect your thoughts thats completely fine 
And don’t let anyone make you feel guilty if one day all you want to do is chug a bottle of wine or watch a marathon because it is your right 
So do what you gottaaa do and be great!!!!
